Our group aims to find out the participatory and collaborative methods in existing cities and find out how applicable these means are for the city Amberg. In this case, two cities with one participatory urban design project were selected as the research object. Their processes and methods will be illustrated thoroughly, using the same framework for analysis. In addition, the existing ways of participation in Amberg is also taken into consideration. Making further steps of digitalization and visionary attempts possible.

The research is structured from theory to practice, showing the research approach at the same time. Firstly, the necessary theory base is illustrated for a better understanding in the topic. Secondly, the methodologies considering participation and collaboration are introduced, such as the technology topic Crowdsourcing as a main method to obtain information and data from the citizens. Furthermore, two cities would be presented as references for participatory and collaboration process. Moreover, the specific platforms and tools out of the exemplary case studies would be introduced in detail in Toolkits. In the end, the current approaches of Amberg considering citizen participation would be presented.
